DESIGNER - helen steele

Today we have something very special for all lovers of colour and geometrics (like me). This is the beautiful work of artist and fashion designer Helen Steele. Based in County Monaghan, Ireland Helen is inspired by explosive colour schemes and the joy that colour can bring. Her digital prints are often made from her paintings, with dashed colour or grafitti art. In 2014 Helen won Irish Designer of the Year, and the 'Irish Tatler' Woman of the Year (fashion) award. She shows her work in Paris and London but would also love to create a print interiors collection of wallpaper and curtains from her own artwork.

And this is how I discovered Helen Steele, through her designs created for Ceadogan Rugs. From their base in County Wexford, Ireland Ceadogan make beautiful handcrafted luxury rugs.

He finds inspiration in his love for 1950's/60's graphics, folk crafts from around the world, Scandinavian design, toys, antiques, and architecture. Yuya studied architecture at Musashino Art University and only began an illustration career in 2007. He lives in Tokyo with his wife Keiko where they run a studio called Atelier Folk. I picked out some favourites from Yuya's website and you can see more online here.
